Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
In short: we have no servers, no user accounts, no ads and no analytics. Text goes only from your phone to the PC you paired, over an encrypted connection on your own network, with no server of ours along the way. One thing to be clear about: the speech itself is turned into text by the Google speech recognition engine on your phone, the same one behind the voice keyboard, under Google's privacy policy. We never see the audio or the text.
What Talk2Type collects
Nothing. Neither the phone app nor the PC app has a server of its own, a sign-up, or any advertising or tracking component. We do not collect, store or transmit personal data.
Microphone and speech
When you hold the bubble, Talk2Type asks the speech recognition engine installed on your phone (normally the Google app) to turn your speech into text, exactly like the microphone button on your keyboard. Audio is handled by that engine under its own privacy policy. Talk2Type never records, stores or uploads audio.
Text you dictate
Recognized text is sent only to the PC you paired, over your Wi-Fi or a direct Bluetooth link, through an encrypted (TLS) connection whose certificate your phone pins at pairing time. It is typed into the active window and is not kept by us anywhere. If the connection drops, the text is copied to your phone's clipboard so it isn't lost.
Click by number, Screen mode and Remote
- Click by number: when you ask for numbers, the PC reads the names of the buttons in the active window and sends that list to your phone only.
- Screen mode and “peek”: the PC sends an image of its screen to your phone over the same encrypted connection. Images are shown and not sent anywhere else.
- Remote control (off by default): commands you say after “computer” go to your PC only. Shutdown and restart ask for confirmation on the phone.
- Trackpad and keyboard: movements and keys go to your PC only.
“Type on this phone” (Accessibility Service)
If you enable “Type on this phone”, Talk2Type uses an Android Accessibility Service for one purpose: inserting the text you dictate into the focused text field on the phone. The service does not read, store or transmit other screen content, and it is off by default.
Purchases
The trial and the one-time purchase go through Google Play. Google handles the payment; we never receive your payment details. The app only checks with Google Play whether the purchase was made.
Problem reports
“Report a problem” in Settings opens a ready email in your mail app, with what you wrote, your device model, Android version and a short log of what the app did (connections, errors, commands). The log does not include the text you dictated. Nothing is sent until you press send, and you can see and edit everything first. Reports are used only to fix the problem.
Permissions
- Microphone: to hear what you say.
- Display over other apps: for the floating bubble.
- Notifications: mic, language and switch-PC buttons in the notification and on the lock screen.
- Network and Bluetooth: to find and connect to your PC.
- Camera: only to scan the pairing QR code.
Children
Talk2Type is not directed at children under 13 and does not collect data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
